We're hiring - Visitor Experience Assistants

Location:Shetland Museum and Archives, Hay's Dock, Lerwick
Hours:Full-time, part-time and seasonal positions available
Salary:

Full-time / part-time - £19,500 to £22,000 (pro-rata, inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance and dependent on experience)

Seasonal - £10.56 per hour

An exciting opportunity to join our Visitor Experience Team, providing an outstanding welcome and service to all our visitors. At the Shetland Museum and Archives we do everything from Shetland's heritage to modern art, events and exhibitions. From hosting an exhibition of Grayson Perry ceramics to our outstanding textile colleciton, finds from shipwrecks to heritage boats - our collection and our acitvities are diverse and exciting.

You will maximise our visitor’s enjoyment of the Shetland Museum and Archives providing outstanding customer services, maintaining a positive, welcoming environment, and a proactive and helpful attitude to all visitors and colleagues. You will provide a welcome to visitors, ensure they are safe and that the venue is presented to the highest standards. The duties are varied and the post-holder will be expected to assist in many aspects of running the service.

The postholder will receive training on different aspects of the Museum collections and respond to queries from visitors and deliver tours. The postholder will also be given the opportunity to support the delivery of our lifelong learning programme, retail, events, exhibitions and more. There may be opportunities to specialise in key interest areas.

Work will normally be based at the Shetland Museum and Archives, Hay’s Dock, Lerwick, but may involve work at other museum sites for varying periods. Weekend and evening work is required which may often be unsupervised.


A satisfactory PVG from Disclosure Scotland is required for this post.
