Fisherwomen exhibition is now open

It was a busy afternoon in Da Gadderie at Shetland Museum & Archives on Saturday (13 May) for the official opening of 'Fisherwomen' by Craig Easton.

The bold new photographic exhibition that celebrates the significant role of women in the fishing industry opened on Saturday.

Part of a national touring show Fisherwomen explores the work of women along the historic route of the old herring fleet from Shetland to Great Yarmouth and their work in processing the fishing fleets' catch. Find out more about the exhibition here.

Thank you to all who came along to the opening, it was lovely to see some of the women, and their families, who were featured in the exhibition standing next to their portraits.

The exhibition is a collaboration between Shetland Amenity Trust and Shetland Arts and is will run until Sunday 30 July. View the Shetland Museum & Archives opening times here.
