Young Ambassador Project

This is a fantasic opportunity for anyone from 13-25 years old with a keen interest in media, gallery and museum work, marketing, film-making, photography or song-writing.

The exhibition will showcase the work of Don McCullin, a world-famous photographer who has captured some of the most iconic images in photojournalism.

There are three main elements of the young ambassador project: Photojournalism, film-making, and singer-songwriting. Shetland Museum and Archives will manage the photojournalism element, and the young ambassadors who take part in the photography element of this project will have the chance to exhibit their work in the Shetland Museum and Archives during the Don McCullin show. Shetland Arts will oversee the film-making and singer-songwriting elements.

The project begins on 1st September and will involve a regular programme of activities and involvement with the run-up to the exhibition opening on 29th November. Anyone who is interested in applying to take part should submit their name, age and contact details along with something that shows why they would be suitable for their chosen project category. This could be a written submission (max 300 words), a film, a song, photographs or anything that demonstrate the individuals ability and enthusiasm for the project. Applications should be submitted to: jane.matthews@shetlandarts.org or Jane Matthews, Mareel, Lerwick, ZE1 0WQ no later than Monday 18th August. An day of informal interviews will be held in Mareel on Saturday 23rd August and the successful candidates will begin their projects on 1st September.
