Up Helly Aa 2025 Round Up

The Shetland Museum & Archives was full of activity last week as we celebrated Up Helly Aa. There is always such a lively atmosphere in the building with lots going on for both locals and tourists.

We extended our opening hours and organised a full programme of events which included Viking tours, Taste of Shetland food and drink pop up, an UHA photo archive display, preschool crafts and a mini procession through the galleries.

On UHA day the museum was packed with visitors of all ages enjoying music, tours, crafts, Viking artefacts, educational visits. The highlight of course was a visit from this year’s Guizer Jarl Calum Grains and his squad.

A fun and memorable few days at the museum as always - we can't wait to do it all again next year!
