Shetland Stemovators
We were delighted to be part of Shetland’s Stemovators event which was held at the Shetland Museum on 23rd April
With a wide range of activities running throughout the day, it was fantastic to see so many young people getting involved in hands-on learning.
Our museum learning team hosted an activity, introducing pupils to Shetland boat models and historic boats using objects and photographs from our archive.
Pupils then took on the challenge of building their own boats using just A4 paper, tinfoil, blu tack, and paper clips. Each boat had to float and carry its ‘cargo’ - shiny spoons inspired by the St Ninian’s Isle treasure. There were some brilliant designs, and (almost!) every boat stayed afloat!
A fun day of creativity, problem-solving and teamwork.
