The number of visitors will be restricted to ensure social distancing.
We will restrict the number of people in the Shetland Museum and Archives at any given time, including staff, to make sure that each group (household/family/friends) can remain at least 2 metres from the next group at all times. This means that there will only be a short queue – so it will be a great opportunity to experience Shetland Museum while it’s quiet!
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday visitors can pre-book their tickets online and will be given exclusive access to the Museum for up to 2 hours.
On Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday afternoons you can just drop-in whenever you wish. We will stagger the groups entering the museum to ensure they are well spread out. There is not time limit on your visit although we will be closing briefly at lunchtime to clean. You should ensure your group is 6 or less and from a maximum of 2 households.
A one-way system is now in operation throught the Museum Galleries and shop with a seperate entrance and exit for the building.
The Galleries have been split into three zones and only one booked group will be allowed into each zone at a time.
- The Lower Gallery
- The Upper Gallery
- Da Gadderie Exhibition space
The Archives Searchroom is now available by appointment only. The number of people allowed in will be restricted to ensure social distancing can be maintained. New rules are also in place to ensure high levels of hygiene are followed. See the Archives Searchroom page for more details.
