Archives Searchroom Restrictions
The Archives Searchroom has new social distancing and hygiene measures in place.
By Appointment Only
The Archives Searchroom is now available by appointment only on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. This will allow staff to bring material from the repository in advance. You should specify what material you need to see when booking. There will be no group visits to or lectures in the searchroom and volunteers will not return to work in the Archives at this time.
The number of people in the searchroom will be limited to 4 people - 2 at the tables and 2 at the Microfilm readers. No browsers will be allowed at this time. Social distancing rules will be monitored by the member of staff in charge.
Face coverings must be worn at all times in the Archives by staff and visitors.
The Archives Searchroom will be deep cleaned before opening and cleaned on a daily basis. Additional cleaning of key touch points, tables, keyboards etc. will take place throughout the day.
All staff and visitors to the Searchroom must wash their hands before entering.
Quarantining of Documents and Books
Documents and books consulted and browsed will be quarantined for 72 hours after use. (This is in line with practice in Scottish libraries and Archives).
Bring your own equipment
From now on the Archives will not provide pencils for use in the searchroom. Readers must bring and take away their own.
Similarly, visitors who want to listen to audio material should bring and take away their own earphones.
