Make the most of your visit with us and join us on a tour to ensure you see the highlights of our museum and our Recognised Collections.

Curator led Group Tours

£18 per person
An opportunity to explore our collections in depth with our expert curatorial team. We offer tours on our Recognised Collections in textiles and archaeology. We can also offer tours on our maritime and fisheries heritage, crofting and folklife, and other specialisms on request.

Highlights Tour

£9 per person | Visitor Experience Assistant led tour, approx 40mins
Our Visitor Services Team offer a Highlights tour which takes around 45 minutes and covers all of the gallery zones, pointing out key artefacts from each area. For a general introduction to the collections, or for those who have limited time, this is a perfect place to start.

Textiles Group Tour

Visitor Experience Assistant led textile tour - £10 per person - approx. 30mins
Curator led textile tour - £20 per person - approx. 35 minutes
Curator led private viewing of textiles in storage - £12 per person (minimum fee for 8 people applies) - approx 35 minutes

Textile tours are available during the summer, and also during Shetland Wool Week in late September/early October. Tours examine various aspects of our textile heritage, illustrated by our Recognised textile collection. These are sometimes complemented by textile demonstration sessions with our skilled team showing off their spinning and knitting talents.
