Activities

Whatever your reason for visiting us at Shetland Museum and Archives, there are a range of activities and trails on offer to ensure you can make the most of your time with us.

In addition to the calendar of events, and any current exhibitions taking place, there are also seasonal activities and gallery tours which are delivered to tie in with specific events or certain times of year.

Children's Activities

There are plenty of opportunities for children to explore, discover and play throughout the museum. Interactive exhibits can be found across the galleries, alongside a range of activity sheets designed to help young visitors engage with the collections.

Pick up an activity sheet or scavenger hunt from the foyer on arrival and set off on an adventure through the galleries, uncovering fascinating stories along the way.

Children can also enjoy a variety of dressing-up activities located throughout the upper gallery. Step back in time in Victorian costume, become a Viking explorer, and enjoy themed games and props that bring history to life through imaginative play.

Young visitors will love dressing up as a Viking and setting sail aboard our miniature galley boat in the Boat Hall, where they can embark on their own seafaring adventure.
