Ron Sandford captures the spirit of places through an exploration of his lived experiences of life in China and in Yell as well as his travels in Europe.
This astonishing body of work demonstrates Sandford’s lifelong dedication to, and skill in drawing and illustration, through still lives, landscapes and portraits in pencil, pen, ink and watercolour. Sandford describes them as ‘a selection of drawings that would not take ‘no’ for an answer and made for no apparent reason other than evidence of themselves and the spirit of the places depicted. Spirit, of course, is not visible and has to be felt’.
