Gilly is a designer, illustrator and maker. She specialised in knitwear design as part of her BA in Textile Design from Manchester University. She then spent over 20 years fitting in her design and illustration work around raising a family and building a croft on the west coast island of Lismore.
She moved to Shetland in 2016, where she lives on a boat, enjoying the marine environment and taking my home on voyages. The combination of Shetlands rich textile heritage and sea going industries is a source of much inspiration. Her designs have turned increasingly into objects for the home, she likes the idea of what she makes having a practical as well as aesthetic purpose.
