The School of Textiles and Design, at Heriot Watt University, has a long tradition of supplying the local and global fashion and textile industry with graduates equipped with the design and production skills relevant for industrial and commercial application.
They also acknowledge the need for design to question and respond to external factors that affect society today, addressing issues such as sustainability, wellbeing, digital innovation and responsible design.
This exhibition displays a selection of work from the BA3 Design for Textiles student collaboration with Jamieson & Smith, using their Real Shetland Wool in the creation of textile responses for a fashion, interior and art context.
Main themes focus on translation of place, design for wellbeing, textile heritage, provenance and ancestry, in the promotion and use of wool through knitting, weaving, printing & embellishment.
