Join us as we explore our museum collections through craft, activities and have a go sessions.
Suitable for all ages. These are free drop-in events.
Wed 7 Aug | Storytelling Theme
You can look forward to a whole museum takeover - get creative in our craft den, explore our discover zone, go on one of our family tours and have fun searching the galleries on our museum trails. A great day out for all the family.
Get creative in our craft den (auditorium)
- Make a story cube & challenge your friends to a game
- Create mini trow puppet characters
- Design your own skekler masterpiece using Shetland oat straw.
Discovery Zone (Learning room)
- Create your own ‘Night in the Shetland Museum’ comic strip
- Have a go at telling Shetland’s story - if you were in charge of choosing which items go into the museum what would you pick..let your imagination run free!
- Chill with a book in our story corner.
Trowie story readings
- Every half hour we will be heading into the museum’s trowie knowe for a short story read by a member of our visitor experience team.
Museum Trail
- Help us hunt through the galleries for creepie craalies and see if you know their names in Shetland dialect.
