Thursday Lates: Aboot da Nicht - Shetlandic and Nordic Folklore connected to Darkness and Sleep

Shetland's taatit rugs are part of a Nordic tradition of pile bedcovers which extends from Finland to Ireland. The woollen bedcovers were made using natural dyes to create bold, colourful designs. Some of the designs incorporate symbols used in Nordic and Shetlandic folklore. Join Carol to delve deeper into this belief system, where she highlights the important symbolism showcased in rug design and the connections which can be made to folklore surrounding darkness and sleep.
