MACDIARMID: IN CONVERSATION with Alexander Moffat RSA, Ruth Nicol RSW and Prof. Alan Riach

Inspired by the words and world of Hugh MacDiarmid, Alexander Moffat RSA, Ruth Nicol and Alan Riach share how his letters, poetry and deep connection to the landscape continue to influence contemporary art and writing.
Alexander Moffatt RSA - Scottish artist whose main body of work comprises portraits of the Scottish Renaissance Poets, including Hugh MacDiarmid, which now hang in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. His paintings are represented in many collections in the UK and in the Yale Centre for British Art, USA. He was awarded an OBE for his services to the arts in 2006.
Shetland Museum are loaning three works of art from the private studio of Alexander Moffat for the duration of the 'Outwith' exhibition.
Ruth Nicol RSW- an accomplished contemporary Scottish landscape artist whose work is celebrated for its sensitivity, colour and depth. She has previously exhibited alongside RSA artists, in collaborative projects including 'Landmarks' with Alexander Moffat and Alan Riach. We are delighted to include two of her landscapes in the 'Outwith' exhibition.
Prof Alan Riach, Professor of Scottish Literature at the University Of Glasgow and General Editor of the Collected Works of Hugh MacDiarmid.
