Shetland Archives will host Orcadian, Spencer Rosie, in May for an illustrated talk about the recently published Saints and Sinners, a remarkable account of the gravestones and other memorials in St Magnus Cathedral.

The cathedral was the head church of Orkney and Shetland from the twelfth century. It contains the memorials of many islanders, from Magnus Erlendsson, whose skull reposes in a pillar on the south side of the choir, to island-warriors like Edward Sinclair of Strom in Shetland, who died in the 1560s, and poets like and Edwin Muir and George Mackay Brown.

Saints and Sinners is a beautifully illustrated work, full of information about the grave-slabs and coats-of arms in St Magnus Cathedral.

The talk will take place in the Archives Searchroom at 7.00pm on Thursday 19th May.

Spaces are limited, so booking is required. Tickets are priced £3.50.
