Schools

Our learning team offer themed tours and workshops designed to meet the needs the of the Curriculum for Excellence from Early Level to Senior phase. All of our schools programme is based on our collections, with special workshops developed to compliment visiting exhibitions. All education visits are free of charge.

Our staff are experienced in delivering to multi composite classes, and pupils with Additional Support Needs.

Through investigating the artefacts on display in the galleries, pupils will:

  • have opportunities to observe, explore , experiment and play
  • take part through both collaborative and independent learning
  • join in discussions and debates
  • begin to develop the capacity for critical thinking
  • have fun!

Inside Schools

Nursery & Primary

Fun, interactive, flexible activities have carefully developed for these age groups. Activities on our workshops include; handling artefacts, observational drawing, making clay models, buttermaking, dressing-up and even go back in time to experience our Victorian classroom!

We offer guided tours and outreach workshops to secondary schools. For secondary schools, higher and further education establishments, learning opportunities can be tailor-made using Museum, Archival and Art collections.
